The Daily Stoic is a testament to the most virtuous of life philosophies. Stoicism is a tool in the pursuit of self-mastery, perseverance, and wisdom. A way to live a great life - and also the inspiration behind these jewelry designs.
The history of Stoicism goes back to the 3rd Century BC, and the core concepts remain true to this day. Stoicism is a school of philosophy that flourished in Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome. In Meditations, Marcus Aurelius wrote “You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do and say and think.” The French painter Philippe de Champaigne expressed a similar sentiment in his painting "Still Life with a Skull," which showed the three essentials of existence: the tulip (life), the skull (death), and the hourglass (time). This phrase and these symbols are hand engraved using ancient techniques of carving into the wax and casting into brass and sterling silver and then sawing, engraving, hammering & soldering the metals with precision and care.

“Memento Mori” translates to “Remember you must die.” While this seems morbid at first glance, it is ultimately an inspiring phrase to live ones best life. To inspire, motivate, and gain clarity of one's purpose. It is an inescapable truth that we will die, and so let it invigorate you, drive you toward meaning in life, and not spend your days focused on the inevitabilities. The idea has been central to art and literature throughout human history. We have the Stoics to thank, as we treat each day as a gift, not wasting any time on the trivial.
